PRINTING BLANKETS FOR TEXTILE PRINTING

Printing Blankets for Textile Printing

Printing Blankets for Textile Printing are designed for machines that print on to fabrics and materials. Rotary printing, flat printing and digital printing all require these type of belts or blankets.

A key feature for textile printing blankets is the makeup and the stability of the material. This is essential to ensure there is no speed variation as this can cause printing alignment errors.

Another important feature is the surface quality of the blanket. It needs to exhibit excellent chemical resistant properties as attack from dyes can cause the surface to bubble or crack. A high quality surface means the belt life can be extended over inferior or cheaper materials.

A smooth surface is also critical for this application. If the surface is uneven or has different thicknesses throughout the belt it can lead to printing deviations so a uniform surface profile is required. This problem can become apparent especially at the joint area.

Some materials are made with the addition of an inextensible layer between the two fabric traction layers. This offers a huge advantage in the re tension of the conveyor belt as over time is not required therefore less downtime costs.

The inner traction or carcass layers that provide the blankets strength are usually made solely of polyester, however Aramid fibers are also used with polyester for larger belts typically over 20 meters in length due to there excellent strength.

Printing blankets, or belts, are easy to install on the machine. Typically a finger joint, or zig-zag joint, is used and spliced together with a state of the art high performance air cooled machine. Air cooled splicing machines are light weight and do not require water in order to cool down. This method is quick and ensure you can have your machine up and running as soon as possible to continue with production.
